St George’s Church will be linking the launch of this year’s Jesmond Community Festival on 3 May with a Big Friendly Gathering to mark 80 years since Victory in Europe (VE Day). There will be a fabulous range of entertainment for all the family, from the memories of World War Veterans and 1940’s songs with the Darling Dollies to Face Painting and Children’s activities, plus Cream Teas, Ice Cream and Pimm’s.

Plus find out more about this year’s Teddy Bear Trail and other festival events at the community stall.

Following the ringing of the Church Bells from 1:30 pm the big event starts at 2:00 pm and will be finished by 5:00 pm.

If this fabulous weather holds out, get the children and grandchildren along to Exhibition Park on Sunday 4 May, between 11 am and 3 pm, when the “Festival Special” model train rides will be operating. If you haven’t beern before, the track is hidden away behind the Wylam Brewery, at the Northern Boundary of the park.

Free Crafts session in Holy Trinity

One of the first events in this year’s Jesmond Community Festival will be a free crafts session for children and adults in Holy Trinity Church, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The session will be led by Yve Ngoo, who will have a supply of materials.

There will also be tea and coffee available, and a supply of festival programmes, so that you can plan which events to attend over the rest of May!
