JESMOND COMMUNITY FESTIVAL 2020

After a lot of preparatory effort (and after the festival programme had been printed) Jesmond Community Forum had to cancel the 2020 Jesmond Community Festival, in the light of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

We are so pleased to be able to say that all those organisations who had given us grants to fund the festival agreed that unspent moneys should be retained by the Forum, and put towards future festivals.

The only 2020 events which were able to proceed were the Teddy Bear Trail (which took place in the autumn of 2020 as the Toffee Apple Ted Trail), the Glorious Gardens Competition, the Photographic Competition and the Children’s Book Review Competition.

The winner of the Community Gardens section of the Glorious Gardens awards was the Myrtle Grove Community Garden, while the joint winners of the Pocket Gardens category were 47 Sunbury Avenue and 56 Queens Road. The best Larger Garden was 55 Reid Park Road, and the best Wildlife-friendly Garden 24 Lansdowne Gardens.

The joint winners of the Photographic Competition were John Wardle (with a photograph called Isolation, showing swans on Exhibition Park lake) and Nick Lambert (Autumn at Wylam Brewery). The winners of the Children’s Book Review Competition were Nikita Alagar, Halle Olive Critchley, Michael Pearson and Benji Lawrence.

The Toffee Apple Ted Trail was just for fun, and there  were no winners!
