Do you watch cycle racing on TV? Now is your chance to take part in the family version, the Tour de Jesmond! Bring your bike to the Bandstand in Exhibition Park on Sunday 7 May at 1:45 for a prompt 2:00 pm start. Suitable for anyone from ages 8 to 80.
We are sorry to tell you that the planned talk at the Church of the Holy Name, which was to take place on Saturday 20 May, has had to be CANCELLED. Professor Eamon Duffy, who was to be telling us the story of Father Robert Benson, has had to pull out, owing to an illness in his close family.
At 10:00 am on Coronation Day, 6 May, the St George’s Church Bell Ringers will “Ring for the King” as part of a national event planned by the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers. Then, from 10:30 to 11:30 am members of the public are invited to come along and ring a bell yourself, after which you will receive a certificate to say that you have “rung a bell for the King”! Places will be allocated on a “first come, first served” basis.
The Friends of Jesmond Old Cemetery tell us that their tour on Thursday 11 May is now fully booked. There are only a few places free on Sunday 21 May, so if you are interested, contact friendsofjoc@gmail.com as soon as you can!
