Snail Racing

Have you ever seen snails race? Don’t miss the snail racing, one of the many attractions at the Jesmond Community Orchard Open Day on Saturday 17 May, between 1:00 and 4:00 pm. You can also see Morris Dancing or enjoy crafts and story telling. The orchard can be found in the north west corner of St Andrew’s Cemetery, off Tankerville Terrace.

Ted goes Travelling

This year’s Teddy Bear Trail has the theme “Ted goes Travelling”. The trail will be in place from 17 May, but you will be able to purchase entry forms in advance at the St George’s Church Launch Event on 3 May (from 2pm), and from Jesmond Library, also from 3 May. Entry forms will cost £1.50 per person.

Jesmond Gardens Awards 2025

This year’s Jesmond Gardens Awards competition has been launched. Awards are available for all types of front garden, large or small, but the garden must be readily visible to passers by. For more information, or to enter your garden email gardensinjesmond@gmail.com . The deadline for entries is 1st May 2025, and the awards will be presented in Jesmond Library on 22 May.

The Axum Folk Ensemble will be performing in Jesmond Library again on Friday 16 May. There are no tickets, but get there soon after the doors open at 7:00pm to ensure that you get a good seat! This year Axum will be supported by the American/Australian duo Mills and Farrell.
