Holy Name parish in Jesmond is delighted to welcome papal biographer, journalist and commentator Dr Austen Ivereigh to give its annual public lecture in the church on North Jesmond Avenue on Saturday 16 May, at 11 am, as part of this year’s Jesmond Community Festival.

Dr Ivereigh is travelling from his home in Herefordshire to Tyneside to give the lecture “From Francis to Leo: The Catholic Church in a Change of Era.”

When Pope Francis died a year ago, the cardinals elected a new pope who would continue and deepen his reform, which they said was key to evangelizing today’s world. This is what Francis and now Leo call “the change of an era” – a new apostolic age.

Dr Ivereigh is Fellow in Contemporary Church History at Campion Hall, University of Oxford. There will be a pop up shop and book signing after the lecture, while parish volunteers serve cold drinks.
