Volunteers at Jesmond Library have begun planning a new Teddy Bear Trail for the 2021 Jesmond Community Festival. More information will be announced later. In the meantime, if you have any queries, contact joanaarvold@icloud.com .

All this year’s Jesmond Calendars have now been sold. Rather to our surprise, despite the lockdown (or because of it), demand was higher than ever! Thank you to Paul Rea of Red Square Newcastle for the design, and for organising the printing, and congratulations to all the local photographers whose work is featured!

The winners of this year’s Photo competition were John Wardle and Nick Lambert. Congratulations, and many thanks also to all the others who entered for the competition! All the winning photographs and runners up are being included in a 2021 Jesmond Calendar, available very soon, price £5.

Winning Children’s Book Reviews

Congratulations to the winners of the Oxfam Book Shop/Jesmond Library Children’s Book Review competition! They are Michael Pearson for his review of “Private Peaceful” by Michael Morpurgo, Benji Lawrence, who chose “Flember – The Secret Book” by Jamie Smart, Nikita Alajar, who liked “The Enchanted Wood” by Enid Blyton, and Halle Olive Critchley, who enjoyed “Slime” by David Walliams. All the winners will receive book tokens.

Glorious Gardens

The Greening Jesmond Group have announced the winners of this year’s Glorious Gardens Competition. The winning Pocket Gardens were 47 Sunbury Avenue and 56 Queens Road; the winning Larger Garden was 55 Reid Park Road; the winning Wildlife-Friendly Garden was 24 Lansdowne Gardens; and the winning Community Garden was the Myrtle Grove Community Garden.
