Keep Jesmond Clean

Keep Jesmond Clean

Keep Jesmond Clean is a community action group of local people who are keen to assist in keeping the area clean and tidy. The group aims to reduce litter, promote recycling, and work in partnership with local businesses, universities, agents and schools, and is supported by both the North Jesmond and South Jesmond Ward Committees. As we emerge from the lockdown KJC is starting up again, and organising a new series of litter-picks. Meet new people and make a difference! All equipment and insurance cover provided. For more information email keepjesmondclean@gmail.com .

As part of Jesmond Festival KJC are organising a reunion and litter-pick on Saturday 22 May at 11 am, and a Jesmond Vale litter-pick is being planned for Sunday 27 June.

Cry for the Festival!

Cry for the Festival!

Sadly, we were not able to hold the normal launch for this year’s community festival, but Marjorie Dodds, the town crier who has launched all previous festivals, has nonetheless written a special Cry for us, for 2021:

Oyez!          Oyez!           Oyez!
Not out loud,
To draw a crowd,
Is not allowed!      YET!!!
Out on the street, there’s a buzz in the air,
Or is it the ether, as groups in Jesmond  prepare,
For Jesmond Community Festival, a little different this year!
Some events outside but lots on Zoom
To enjoy from the comfort of your living room.
Go to the website and book from the programme display,
So much to do, to see, to explore!
Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4!
God Save The Queen!
