Tickets for the Redheughers Ceilidh at St Hilda’s Church Hall on Friday 17 May are now on sale in Jesmond Library, price £7 (adults) and £3 (children aged 4-16 years). This is a ticket only event. For any more information see www.redheughers.org.uk . Bring your own refreshments and glasses.

Once again the Friends of Jesmond Dene will be holding an early morning Nature Walk as part of the 2024 Jesmond Community Festival. Bishop to open St George’s Fete

Bishop to open St George’s Fete

St George’s Church tell us that this year’s St George’s Spring Fete on 4 May will be officially opened by the Bishop of Newcastle, The Right Revd Dr Helen-Ann Hartley. As usual the St George’s Fete will be one of the first events in Jesmond Community Festival, and its launch will be preceded by the ringing of the Church’s magnificent bells by the St George’s Church Bell Ringers. The bells will sound from 11:40 am and the fete will commence at mid-day.

Northumberland Orchestral Society

Northumberland Orchestral Society

The Northumberland Orchestral Society have announced details of their Spring concert, which will be an early highlight of the 2024 Jesmond Community Festival. The concert will be at the United Reformed Church on Saturday 4 May, beginning at 7:30pm.

The Society’s programme will include the Gaelic Suite by Amy Beach, and the Brahms double concerto, with. Soloist Kyra Humphreys, violin, and her son Seth cello, both Jesmond residents. Kyra is co-leader of the Royal Northern Sinfonia. Seth recently graduated from Clare College, Cambridge, and was principal cello in the Cambridge University Sinfonia and Opera Orchestra. Seth begins a Master’s degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama this September.
