Organ Recitals

Organ Recitals

Every Friday during this year’s Jesmond Community Festival will feature a lunchtime performance on the magnificent organ of St George’s Church. The recitals will start at 1:00 pm and are free, but with a retiring collection in aid of the Organ Restoration Fund.

The guest organist on 12 May will be Daniel Cook, Durham Cathedral, 19 May will feature Tim Harper, Ripon Cathedral, 26 May Paul Ritchie, Newcastle, and 2 June Tamsin Brown, Carlisle.

Outside the Festival period you can also enjoy Drew Cantrill-Fenwick on 5 May, and other guest organists throughout June and July, ending on 21 July with Drew (again!).

The Royal Route

The Royal Route

Some of the most popular events in this year’s Jesmond Community Festival were the Guided Walks. A new event being organised by the Friends of Jesmond Dene should therefore be very popular!
It’s on 20 August, starting at 11:00am and ending about 1:00pm. The walk will follow the route taken by the Prince and Princess of Wales on this day in 1884, when they officially opened Heaton Park and Jesmond Dene. Suggested donation £5; pay on the day. There is a limit on places so please book via friends.of.jesmond.dene@gmail.com as soon as possible.
