All places available on the Dawn Chorus Walk on 10 May are now taken.
Jesmond Choral Group
Jesmond Choral Group and friends will be performing the Faure Requiem in Jesmond United Reformed Church on Tuesday 6 May, conducted by Jonathan Scott. This free event will commence at 7:30 pm, but get there a few minutes early to get a good seat. The concert will also include Cantique de Jean Racine, and more. New Events added
The Eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that several new events have been added to the festival, since the programme was printed in February. Look on this website, on 9 May for “Music in the Library”, on 11 May for the SPYE Spring Concert, and on 24 May for the library’s Big Spring Book Sale!

We’ll be making stunning floral crowns.
BFG at St George’s
St George’s Church will be linking the launch of this year’s Jesmond Community Festival on 3 May with a Big Friendly Gathering to mark 80 years since Victory in Europe (VE Day). There will be a fabulous range of entertainment for all the family, from the memories of World War Veterans and 1940’s songs with the Darling Dollies to Face Painting and Children’s activities, plus Cream Teas, Ice Cream and Pimm’s.
Plus find out more about this year’s Teddy Bear Trail and other festival events at the community stall.
Following the ringing of the Church Bells from 1:30 pm the big event starts at 2:00 pm and will be finished by 5:00 pm.
Model Steam Train Rides
If this fabulous weather holds out, get the children and grandchildren along to Exhibition Park on Sunday 4 May, between 11 am and 3 pm, when the “Festival Special” model train rides will be operating. If you haven’t beern before, the track is hidden away behind the Wylam Brewery, at the Northern Boundary of the park.
