2019 Highlights

2019 Highlights

The 2019 Jesmond Community Festival comprised 85 events spread over 21 days in May, and 2 days in June. Over 7,800 people attended an event, but this will include a lot of double counting, from people who attended several events.

Innovations in the 2019 festival included several events at the Star and Shadow, a very welcome new venue in South Jesmond, and a performance by Sax on the Tyne, at St George’s, which was also the venue for the very funny “Woman of the Year”, featuring Anna Nicholson.

Also new to the festival were the Empty Vessel Theatre Company, and the Northumberland and Durham Caledonian Society, both at St Hilda’s.

Other very popular events included the Teddy Bear Trail, a cluster of events in Exhibition and Brandling Parks, the St George’s Spring Fair, and a talk by Susan Wood based on her experiences on the television programme “A House Through Time“.
