If you have children (or if you don’t) one of the most popular events in the Community Festival is bound to be the Miniature Train Rides organised by The Tyneside Society of Model and Experimental Engineers. Make a note of the date in your diary, Sunday 15 May (11am – 3pm). If the weather is poor, check their website www.tsmee.co.uk or Facebook: TynesideSocietyMEE. The track is in Exhibition Park, behind Wylam Brewery.
Supporters of Jesmond Community Orchard are busy preparing for their Plant Stall, which will be outside Boilerhouse in Acorn Road on Saturday 7 May at 10:30am. Don’t be too late, as this is always a very popular Festival event. There will be a huge choice of interesting and unusual varieties: herbs, shrubs, annuals, perennials, fruit and vegetable plants, and indoor plants!
Places are still available on the free, virtual tour of the Ouseburn’s Victoria Tunnel, which will take place at 3:00pm on Sunday 8 May. Please make a voluntary contribution to the Ouseburn Trust, if you can. To book go to www.ouseburntrust.org.uk/Event/jesmond-festival .
